Tony Karlström, group head of asset management at Ålandsbanken Abp, has been appointed as the new CEO of Försäkringsaktiebolaget Alandia and Försäkringsaktiebolaget Liv-Alandia. Karlström takes up the position on 1 November 2016. The present CEO Leif Nordlund will support Karlström during a transition period. The change of CEO is occurring in consultation with and by agreement between the board, Karlström and Nordlund.
“Karlström has been appointed following a recruitment process that began in autumn 2015. The board considers that Tony Karlström, with his long previous experience at Alandia Insurance, is an outstanding choice to face the group’s coming challenges. Since 2006, Leif Nordlund has developed Alandia Insurance into a significant marine insurance company in the Nordic region and overseen the conversion of the parent company into a limited company. The board and Nordlund are now agreed that the time has come for a generation change in the CEO position. On behalf of the entire board, I wish to thank Leif Nordlund for his tremendous efforts in the realisation of the new limited company, as well as for having created a sound basis for the group’s future success. I would also like to wish Karlström every success in the challenges that lie ahead,” says Chairman Jan Hanses.
Tony Karlström: “I look forward to fresh challenges in a well-managed company that I greatly esteem, and I am also grateful that Leif will be available to me during a transition period.”
“After working intensively for many years and achieving the targets that had been set, it feels good now to hand over operational responsibility to a competent and capable successor,” says Leif Nordlund.
